Design & Build Quality
Made from BPA-Free Tritan plastic, the Hidrate Spark has a dimension of 4.5″ x 3.5″ x 12″ and it comes in a variety of different colors; iceberg white, bamboo green, ocean teal, crystal pink, amethyst purple or obsidian black.
The Hidrate Spark has a unique way to remind the user to stay hydrated throughout the day. With its capacity of 24 oz. (~710 ml), the Hidrate Spark has a sensor in the bottle that monitors the amount of water intake per day. It is able to detect changes in the water level down to 1 ml increment.
The Hidrate Spark has a sleek and elegant design to it. From the ripple design under the lid to the pour style mouth piece to the usage of BPA-free Tritan plastic, we felt that the team that created Hidrate Spark really put a lot of effort into it. Kudos to the team on their attention to details.
Throughout the day, it detects the user’s water intake. If there has been a period of inactivity, the smart water bottle will glow to remind the user to make sure to stay hydrated.
Overall, we love the sleek design and the build quality of the Hidrate Spark.
Battery Life
The sensor in Hidrate Spark is powered by 2 CR2032 coin-cell batteries. The company claimed that the battery life will easily last for over a year. We have no way of testing that claim but we’re pretty sure it will come close to what the company claimed. Even if the battery runs low, users can easily replace them.
Software
The Hidrate Spark comes with an Android and iOS app and connects to the smart water bottle via Bluetooth. The app syncs and stores all data that the water bottle records. On the main page of the app, there’s a weekly overview of how much water the user consumed.
Periodically, aside from glowing to remind the user to consume more water, the app will also notify users via the notifications bar.
Users can also set a goal for how many ounces they need per day so it can show the progress. If users enable GPS tracking, they can even track where the bottle is during each of the changes to the water levels.
Final Thoughts
Overall, we are really impressed with the Hidrate Spark, from the design and build quality to its precise tracking of water intake. Staying hydrated is definitely important, and the Hidrate Spark helps keep track of that. We would definitely recommend this smart water bottle to anyone who wants to up their water intake.
I am wondering if you have had any trouble with the sensor? I read another review where they had to replace it twice within several weeks.
We did not have any issue with the sensor and we’ve been using it about 2 months now. We believe the 2.0 is an improvement over the previous version so probably that fixed it.
You should never provide an opinion based on nothing but manufacturers claims. Your opinion concerning battery life is irresponsible.
Dave, we clearly stated that we have no way of proving that claim. After 2 months of using it, the app still shows the battery status as “Very good.” We will update accordingly once our first set of battery runs out of juice.
