Review
Design & Build Quality
Weighing at ~2.3 oz, the Otterbox uniVERSE is made with glass-filled (GF) nylon, which is a stiff and durable thermoplastic. The case is certainly not the most heavy-duty case ever (and is not waterproof), but it definitely provides great all around protection for the device, even on concrete.
The Otterbox uniVERSE features a screen bumper that has a raised, beveled edge to fully protect the device’s screen. Fit wise, the case fits perfectly on our iPhone 6S, with precise cutouts to button functions. We still have access to all button functions after fitting the case on, which is great.
Located at the lower back of the case, users will find a slotted rail underneath the removable accent plate. The slotted rail allows users to switch out a variety of modules. Some of the available modules include external battery packs, camera lenses, card readers, and speakers. All the modules have been tested for durability by Otterbox, so everything should hold up just as well as the Otterbox uniVERSE.
Coupled with its unique modular design and its great build quality, we really like the Otterbox uniVERSE.
Battery Life
We managed to get our hands on an external battery pack module to test out. The PolarPro PowerPack is designed to fit perfectly over the Otterbox uniVERSE.
The PolarPro PowerPack has a power switch on the back with the LED indicators. Rated at 2,100 mAh battery capacity, it delivers close to a full charge on our iPhone 6S.
Recharging the external battery pack via microUSB takes approximately an hour on average.
Final Thoughts
The Otterbox uniVERSE is great semi-rugged case. Its sleek design, paired with its modules swapping capability, definitely makes this case system unique. Not to mention, it also has Otterbox certified Drop+ protection. Overall, we really love the Otterbox uniVERSE and would easily recommend it to everyone.
