CES 2015: Hands-On: FLOOME

Launching at CES 2015, FLOOME by 2045 Tech is a breathalyzer that offers an incredibly accurate blood alcohol content (BAC) measurement that features an award-winning Italian design. The device, which will last more than 30,000 tests without needing a battery replacement, connects to users’ smartphones via the audio jack.

The FLOOME app, which is available for free on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, features the same flow meter and the fuel cell sensors used in professional breathalyzers to detect ethanol molecules to determine the BAC. Users will need to enter their gender, age, and weight information to achieve accurate numbers while using the device.

As an added bonus, FLOOME also lets the users know the estimated time they will be sober enough to drive under the alcohol limit. The device can even remind users to test themselves at a certain time, and offer to call them a cab or other ride services if needed to.

FLOOME will be going on sale in the United States in late Q1 of 2015. No pricing has been announced yet.
