Google I/O 2016: Daydream

Earlier today, Google announced Daydream, Google’s platform for high quality mobile virtual reality (VR). Daydream requires several components all work in concert together; the software, hardware, viewer and controller.

As for the software, VR Mode is already embedded as part of Android N. The company is also working with Android manufacturers to add a few key components (like specific sensors and screens) to their upcoming devices that will make them Daydream-ready. As for the Viewer and Controller, Google is sharing a reference design with Android manufacturers so they can focus on making the devices comfortable and intuitive

Google services such as YouTube, Street View, Play Movies, Play Store and Google Photos will be VR ready when it is launched this fall.
